WHS Consultants for Manufacturing & Industrial Sites

Practical workplace health and safety support for Australian manufacturers, built by people who have run safety inside plants and distribution centres, not audited them from the outside.

Manufacturing runs on uptime. The line has to run, the orders have to ship, and when a guard keeps tripping the machine the quick fix is often a workaround instead of a proper control. That is how people get badly hurt, and how a site ends up explaining itself to an inspector.

GSD Safety works with manufacturers to build safety systems that fit how a real plant operates: shift work, changeovers, maintenance windows, forklifts, presses, conveyors, welding bays and chemical stores. We design the systems, do the work alongside your team, then hand you the tools to keep them running.

Whether you run one shed or six sites, the duty of care under the WHS Act is the same. So is the standard of work we put in. If you produce food or beverage, our food manufacturing and FMCG page covers the sanitation, allergen and supplier-audit crossover in more detail.

How Our WHS Consultants Help

Prevent serious injuries

By separating people from forklifts and mobile plant, and putting real controls where the floor is most likely to hurt someone.

Prevent safety gaps

By building systems that match how your site runs across every shift, dock and storage area.

Prevent a disengaged crew

By delivering practical, role-specific training your operators and pickers will use, even during a high-turnover peak.

Prevent failed audits and non-conformance

By giving you records and reporting that stand up to the regulator and to your customers' supplier audits.

Our WHS Services for Manufacturing Sites

Each service can be delivered on its own or rolled into one program. We can also build something around the specific gaps on your site.

Say Goodbye to Safety Firefighting

The Impact of Getting WHS Wrong

In manufacturing, one serious incident does not stay contained. It stops the line, brings an inspector on site, and can put a contract at risk, since most large customers now assess their suppliers on safety performance as well as price and quality.

Depending on the severity of an incident, the consequences can include:

You can manage all of that proactively, or you can manage it after something goes wrong. There is no rewind button on a workplace injury. Doing the work up front is always the cheaper path.

The GSD SAFETY Process

Getting a manufacturing site safe and compliant comes down to three stages: Assess, Align, Assure.

Assess Align Assure 3

1. ASSESS

We come on site for two days and measure your current safety arrangements against the WHS Act and industry practice. You get a detailed risk analysis and a reporting dashboard that shows exactly where you stand.

2. ALIGN

Over 90 days, we overhaul the systems that need it and set your site on a path of continuous improvement. This is the stage where stuff actually gets done, quickly and in the right order.

3. ASSURE

We stay engaged on a structure that suits you, so the gains hold and you save on the cost of carrying every bit of safety management in-house.

MANUFACTURING WORKPLACE SAFETY FAQS

Do you work with manufacturers outside Sydney?

GSD Safety supports manufacturers Australia-wide, from single-site fabricators and machine shops to multi-site manufacturing groups. Our consultants travel to site for assessments and use app-based tools to support sites between visits.

We focus on the hazards that injure factory workers most: machine guarding and entanglement, safe isolation and lock-out-tag-out during maintenance and changeovers, hazardous manual tasks, forklift and pedestrian traffic, noise, welding fume and dust, confined space entry, hot work, and chemical storage and handling.

Plant and process risk assessments are core to our Risk & Safety Assessment work. We assess the machine, the task, and the way the job is actually done on shift, then rank the controls so you fix the highest risk first instead of trying to fix everything at once.

Both parties. Under the WHS Act your business and the contractor each hold a duty of care, and where those duties overlap you are required to consult, cooperate and coordinate. GSD Safety sets up the induction, permit, isolation and sign-off process that makes those shared duties workable during shutdowns and capital works, so your maintenance windows stop being your highest-risk periods.

We build the records, procedures and reporting that customer prequalification systems and supplier audits ask for, so your safety documentation is ready before the request arrives rather than assembled in a panic. This is often the trigger for manufacturers to call us in the first place.

GSD Safety training is practical and role-specific, delivered on site and through VR modules covering lock-out-tag-out, forklift safety, confined space and manual handling. It is built to change how your crew works on the floor. It is not nationally accredited VET training, so where your team needs a formal ticket or licence we will point you to where to get it.

The initial assessment enquiry is free. From there we spend two days on your site reviewing safety arrangements against the WHS Act and industry practice, and you get a risk analysis plus a reporting dashboard showing your current position and priorities. No judgement about where you are starting from.
